God's Word
In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior,
who is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:8-11

It's no wonder that people were perplexed and that they were standing around scratching their heads. A King has been born. No, wait, all I see is a poor baby, born to poor parents, lying in a hollowed-out rock used for a cattle trough. Not only that, he is also wrapped in pieces of cloth; he doesn't even have clothing.

Born poor, yet he is to be a King.
Born helpless, yet to become a Savior.
Born meek and yet he is the Lion of Judah.

Even with all the confusion, still some came and gave gold, frankincense and myrrh. Did their faith show them more than could be seen with the naked eye? The shepherds saw the heavens open and the glory of God spill forth on the earth. The wise men followed a start. Joseph listened to an angel. What about Mary? She walked by faith and in total obedience to God. As she walked that path by faith, she took it all in; every statement, every event, and even every gift.

What about us? Are we taking it all in? Every day events happen in your life that can be explained by scientific events or perhaps by bad karma or even good karma. Have you considered looking at those events through the eyes of faith? Is God reaching out to you?
I would like to suggest that God is indeed reaching out to you and speaking to you through His word and through the circumstances that He allows to enter your life. The God of the universe has a lot to say, are you willing to listen? Or perhaps, you think you know more about life than the giver of Life.

May God bless you this wonderful Christmas season
and may the light of His love shine into your heart
and bring you the joy that He gave Mary so many years ago.
